NEW ORLEANS—Choice of volatile anesthetic does not appear to influence short-term clinical survival in acutely injured trauma patients, a study has concluded.
The secondary analysis of the PROPPR (Pragmatic, Randomized, Optimal Platelet and Plasma Ratios) study (JAMA 2015;313[5]:471-482) found that outcome differences between patients receiving desflurane, isoflurane and sevoflurane were clinically insignificant, although desflurane was more commonly chosen for less severely injured
