San Diego—Use of background propofol infusions during general inhalational anesthesia may have less effect on postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) than commonly thought, according to two new studies.
While investigations concluded that such use of propofol did not markedly reduce PONV or postoperative antiemetic use, the researchers behind the trials continued to recommend use of the agent for a variety of reasons.
“Propofol has an established efficacy on PONV,
