A study published online in the Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing (doi:10.1007/s10877-022-00927-w) found that Masimo RD SET (signal extraction technology) pulse oximetry sensors are as effective at measuring oxygen saturation in patients with dark skin as in those with light skin. This finding comes as other studies have found differences in measurements that could have clinically adverse effects.
