Approximately 2% to 3% of pregnant women are exposed to anesthesia during pregnancy.1,2 The most common surgical procedures performed during this period are appendectomy, cholecystectomy and ovarian torsion repair. Prophylactic or therapeutic surgical cerclage may be necessary in cases of cervical insufficiency to prevent pregnancy loss or premature birth.
