Intra-op Phenylephrine Less Benign Than Thought

Intraoperative phenylephrine is associated with an increased risk for postoperative renal injury after noncardiac surgery.

As a result of this propensity-matched cohort analysis, researchers at the Wake Forest School of Medicine urged their colleagues to consider a balanced approach to managing intraoperative hypotension in their patients, one that does not rely solely on use of the vasopressor.
