I read the case report with much interest. So first I ask, is there any way to “preoxygenate” without a tightly fitting face mask? I believe the answer is no. If you don’t have a tight-fitting mask, and there is any way to entrain room air, then you cannot “preoxygentate,” that is, denitrogenate.
