Monitoring Is Important, But So Is Clinical Judgment

I would like to comment on the front-page article of the April issue (2021;47[6]:1,18-24), titled “Catastrophic Sedation Errors Can Be Avoided by Using CO2 Monitoring and Following Guidelines.”

While it is certainly valid and extremely important to use guideline-driven monitoring and assessment protocols, we can never underestimate the value and importance of clinical judgment, even under the
