Potential causal connections exist between the genetic liability for increased prescription opioid use and risk for major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety and stress-related disorders (ASRD), according to a mendelian randomization analysis.
The two-sample study in JAMA Psychiatry (2020 Nov 11. [Epub ahead of print]. doi: 10.1001/jamapsychiatry.2020.3554) found that even after accounting for chronic pain, “which may
