Smiths Medical has notified the FDA of a sizing issue with its Intubation Oral/Nasal Endotracheal Tubes, indicating that some products are smaller than intended. As a result, the company is initiating a recall for specific tube sizes.
The affected tubes have sizes of 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 mm, where the diameter of the device is smaller than expected. This issue could lead to inadequate ventilation for patients following the insertion of the endotracheal tube.
