Calgary, Alberta—There are several risk factors for postoperative ER visits and hospital admissions in patients undergoing ambulatory arthroscopic shoulder surgery, including preexisting hypertension, lateral decubitus positioning and increased use of PACU antiemetics.
These findings suggest that multimodal analgesia and aggressive antiemetic prophylaxis may help reduce these events in this patient population.
