Criteria for Successful Pediatric Extubation Delineated

Orlando, Fla.—Practice patterns in awake extubation in children undergoing surgery are known to vary. Now, researchers at Wake Forest University School of Medicine have found that five distinct criteria are individually associated with extubation success in pediatric surgical patients after volatile anesthesia.

In the study, they also noted that combining multiple criteria could lead to even greater extubation success.
