The use of multimodal anesthetic approaches in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathways not only decreases intraoperative opioid use by patients undergoing open gynecologic surgery but also reduces their highest pain scores reached in the PACU.
“We use quite a few ERAS pathways here,” said Javier D. Lasala, MD, an associate professor of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston. “Nevertheless, there’s
