Factors Affecting ICU Opioid Use Delineated

A recent study has identified a series of patient and surgical factors that may lead to increased opioid use in the ICU after surgery.

These factors include:

  • preoperative opioid use,
  • major surgery,
  • younger age, and
  • anesthesia duration.
