Arterial Blood Pressure Drops When Clonidine Added to Lumbar Plexus Nerve Catheters

While the addition of clonidine to postoperative lumbar plexus nerve catheter infusions does not increase the rate of blood transfusions, it does cause a decrease in mean arterial blood pressure, a recent study has concluded.

As a result of the findings, researchers at UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) reported that they had stopped adding clonidine to such infusions.
