Bleeding Reduced With Prothrombin Complex Concentrates in Cardiac Surgery

Chicago—Preliminary results have demonstrated that three-component prothrombin complex concentrates (PCCs) reduce total blood products transfused for excessive bleeding in cardiac surgery patients. However, this benefit may come at the cost of increased thrombotic complications.
