Post-COVID TKA Patients Have Similar Thrombolic Risk

Las Vegas—Patients with a history of COVID-19 who undergo total knee arthroplasty (TKA) do not have a greater risk for thrombolic events—as measured by endothelial function—than their counterparts without this history, according to a recent study.

In view of similar endothelial function in the two groups, the researchers believe more aggressive prophylaxis for deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is not needed in TKA patients with a history of COVID disease.
