Regional Anesthesia—Good Strategy For Upper Extremity Burns

Patients with upper extremity burns can benefit from the administration of regional anesthesia, according to the results of a new investigation.

Researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, in Richmond, found that the addition of single-shot and continuous blocks to a general anesthetic technique reduced opioid consumption and hospital length of stay (LOS) among patients with a variety of isolated upper extremity burns.

“We have a large burn center
