HALIFAX, Nova Scotia—A Canadian study has taken a step toward improving anesthetic care in laboring women by identifying predictors of failed spinal anesthesia in cesarean delivery.

The study found several such predictors, with the most important being a history of cesarean delivery, tubal ligation, lower body mass index and duration of surgery.
