More Pre-op Hypotension in Patients at Medicaid Hospitals

DENVER—Elective noncardiac surgery patients who present to Medicaid disproportionate share hospitals (DSHs) (i.e., institutions defined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services [CMS] as facilities where higher proportions of patients are insured by Medicaid) have a dramatically increased incidence of preoperative hypotension than their counterparts receiving care at other institutions, a new investigation has concluded.
