Better Algorithms Needed for Predicting Opioid Use Disorder

There is a need for more robust data and improved machine learning techniques to accurately assess the genetic risk of developing opioid use disorder (OUD), according to new research.

A team led by Christal N. Davis, PhD, of the Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center at the Crescenz Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Philadelphia, assessed the utility of 15 genetic variants from a new FDA algorithm aimed at predicting OUD risk.
