FDA Approves New Preventive Injection for Migraine

On May 17, the FDA approved the first preventive injection for migraine, erenumab-aooe (Aimovig, Amgen).

Erenumab-aooe, a once-monthly self-injection, works by blocking calcitonin gene–related peptides, a molecule involved in migraine. The drug is supported by three previous clinical trials, all comparing patient use of the medication with placebo.
