Conditioning with an open-label placebo (COLP) in the immediate postoperative period after spinal surgery significantly reduced daily opioid use without increasing pain, according to the results of a randomized controlled pilot study.
“We would like to better control a patient’s pain after surgery,” said principal investigator Kristin Schreiber, MD, PhD, an associate professor of anesthesiology at Harvard Medical
