Orlando, Fla.—Unintentional overfeeding of ICU patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) may increase the risk for infections, prolong mechanical ventilation and boost hospital length of stay (LOS), according to a study presented at the 2017 American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Clinical Nutrition Week (CNW).

The study, from Rush University Medical Center and the University of Illinois at Chicago, was judged a CNW “Abstract of Distinction.”
