Opioids can be reduced or eliminated at discharge for children undergoing appendectomy without compromising clinical care or patient satisfaction, according to new research.
A study in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons (2022;234[3]:290-298) reported a decline in opioid use from 18.2% to 4% among 1,524 patients evaluated in 2019. Thirty-day emergency room visits remained unchanged and post-intervention pain management
