Hip and Knee Surgery: Fixed-Dose TXA Cuts Costs, Autologous Blood Transfusions

Hollywood, Fla.—Pre- or intraoperative fixed doses of tranexamic acid (TXA) in patients undergoing unilateral hip or knee arthroplasty can significantly reduce potentially dangerous drops in postoperative hemoglobin and the need for autologous blood transfusions, a new study suggests.
