A proof-of-concept study that remotely controlled the Eitan Sapphire IV infusion pump with a nonclinical control interface verified that the infusion rate can be adjusted by either near-patient or far remote via the web, through control applications.
The study also concluded that the delays of about three to eight seconds from remote-control action to the pump executing the change were generally acceptable.
