Introduction

A pulmonary embolism (PE) in the perioperative setting of spinal surgery is rare, with the limited data available estimating an incidence as low as 0.033%.1 However, the risk is not zero. We present the case of a patient who developed a life-threatening PE shortly after induction of anesthesia for an L4-5
