Masimo SET^® Measure-through Motion and Low Perfusion™ Pulse Oximetry

Our Signal Extraction Technology^® (SET^®) pulse oximetry helps clinicians monitor more than an estimated 100 million patients a year¹ and is the primary pulse oximetry technology for nine of the top 15 hospitals on the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Honor Roll for 2015-2016. Masimo SET^® delivers reliable oxygenation measurements under challenging conditions. In a study of pulse oximetry performance during motion and low perfusion in volunteers, the Masimo SET^® pulse oximeter had the highest SpO₂ sensitivity and specificity of the three pulse oximeters tested.²

RD SET™ Sensors

RD SET™ SpO₂ sensors are lightweight, with flat, soft cables, designed to maximize patient comfort. Lightweight connectors with no moving parts provide tactile and audible feedback to clinicians, helping ensure proper sensor placement. RD SET™ sensors are available in both wrap-around and fold-over styles for adults, pediatrics and infants.

Root^® Patient Monitoring and Connectivity Platform

Root^® integrates Masimo’s full suite of rainbow SET™ measurements with Iris™ connectivity in an intuitive, clinician-centric hub. Root^® includes a dock for the Radical-7^® or Radius-7^® wearable patient monitor, as well as MOC-9™ specialty parameter ports and Iris™ connectivity ports for third-party devices such as anesthesia machines, infusion pumps and ventilators.

rainbow^® technology allows noninvasive and continuous monitoring of blood constituents that previously could only be measured invasively. The rainbow SET™ suite includes:

Masimo SpHb^®—Noninvasive, Continuous Hemoglobin Monitoring

Masimo SpHb^® offers real-time visibility to hemoglobin status between invasive blood samples and may provide additional insight when:

• The SpHb^® trend is stable and the clinician may otherwise think hemoglobin is dropping
• The SpHb^® trend is rising and the clinician may otherwise think hemoglobin is not rising fast enough

SedLine^® Brain Function Monitoring

SedLine^® helps clinicians monitor the state of the brain with bilateral data acquisition and processing of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. Root^® with SedLine^® can display:

• Four simultaneous channels of frontal EEG waveforms
• Patient State Index (PSI^®), a processed EEG parameter
• Density Spectral Array (DSA), which contains left and right spectrograms representing the power of the EEG on both sides of the brain
• Multiple screen views that allow clinicians to expand information while enabling customization in the operating room and ICU

SedLine^® is part of the Masimo Open Connect™ (MOC-9™) measurement suite, available only on Root^®.

Continuous Respiration Rate Monitoring With rainbow Acoustic Monitoring^®

The Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) recommends continuous oxygenation and ventilation monitoring for patients receiving opioid-based pain medications.³ While Masimo offers award-winning capnography solutions—via Root’s MOC-9™ capability—we also offer rainbow Acoustic Monitoring^® with Acoustic Respiration Rate (RRa^®), which can help clinicians monitor a patient’s breathing in multiple scenarios such as the postsurgical period and during conscious sedation.⁴

Innovative Connectivity and Remote Monitoring Solutions

Iris™ Connectivity

Root^® with Iris™ enables Patient SafetyNet™* to intake data from third-party devices connected to the patient, acting as an in-room patient monitor and connectivity hub. Alarms and alerts for connected devices are seamlessly forwarded to the patient’s clinician and all device data can be transferred to the patient’s electronic medical record (EMR). To simplify documentation of patient data during rounds, Root^® enables clinicians to easily verify and send patient vitals, as well as all connected medical device information, to the EMR directly from Root^®.

Patient SafetyNet™ Remote Monitoring

Patient SafetyNet™—combined with Masimo SET^® pulse oximetry and rainbow Acoustic Monitoring^® or standard capnography—offers a clinically proven, cost-effective approach to continuous postoperative monitoring. A study in 2010 showed that, after implementing Patient SafetyNet™ where only intermittent spot-checking was used before, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center reduced rapid response activations by 65% and ICU transfers by 48%, while saving $1.48 million annually.⁵

Radius-7^® Patient-Worn Monitor

Root^® with Radius-7^® offers a wearable, wireless monitor with Masimo SET^® pulse oximetry and rainbow Acoustic Monitoring^® technologies. Radius-7^® provides continuous monitoring with freedom of movement. Studies have shown that patient mobility is a key factor in more rapid patient recovery.⁶ Radius-7^® allows clinicians to continuously monitor their patients remotely while they are mobile.
